For me it would have to be a jar of red and blue buttons! But your green ones look gorgeous too. There's something so satisfying about a stash of buttons.
What is it about buttons....it's the potential, its the subtle shades, it's domesticty without the kitchen sink, they are memories and reminders of simple things, knitted cardigans and gingham summer dresses, duffle coats and grannys sewing basket......Lynn xx
Isn't that funny - in my recent bulk buy of buttons of probaly over 1000 there were about 10 red. I think Lynn (Sea Angels) is right about their potential and of memories.
Do you think that it is because we were given button boxes to play with as children. Both my Gran and "Aunty" Patty who lived next door had great button boxes that were brought out to entertain me when I visited. I remember this as if it were drawn by Shirley Hughes in her My Naughty Little sister phase. Bizarre. J x
so much button love:) I think once again Jane has made a good point - my Granny's button box was a source of great pleasure for me - many an hour was spent sorting and re-sorting them into colours and sizes. To Sam (my neighbour) I shall try and see what the Gigibird kitchen can rustle up.....
if they were in my house!
