Grand Day Out

Yesterday I visited Petersham Nurseries in Richmond.

They knew I was coming.
I am currently under par but really wanted to visit while the dahlias were still out.
My friend Louise and I ate lunch from the famous Skye Gyngell’s kitchen.

The Mains
The interesting thing about Petersham is almost everyone has a dog with them and that was no exception in the restaurant. Personally I would rather have a dog at the next table than a small child so I didn’t have a problem but it was almost like being in France where dogs seem to be allowed anywhere.

Bread and water
The other thing that we both noticed was how most of the visitors looked very similar…30 something’s who didn’t have many facial expressions…..

I chose the pork
I was very inspired by the artistic overview – someone of incredible taste has created a beautiful oasis.

Very tasteful facilities
I would say however it is a restaurant with a bit of a garden centre rather than the other way round.

Hey Lynn, sounds like you had a wonderful time, the photos look fab.
Certainly a very stylish place and the food mmm........Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Sorry to hear you are under par! Dahlias always put a huge smile on my face. Maybe the 30 somethings with accessory dogs are all huge botox fans. Small child vs dog - dog wins. No dogs in restaurants around here. Plenty of children though.
Hope you are feeling better soon XXX

  4. Lovely photos Lynn, sounds like the perfect spot for a nice bit of lunch too, glad you enjoyed your day!

    Love Julia x x x

We did have a lovely time now didn't we!

However, I have a complaint. We need more gigibird posts - it's been nearly two months and I for one am missing you :)

wow what a gorgeous place. I love the way old brickwork looks.

Being a mother of two toddlers I would agree that dogs are probably better behaved in restaurents! ;)

  7. I quite fancy visiting that place but it's at the other end of the country and I've heard very expensive. Having you visit for me is the next best thing, it looks really nice and I hope you are feeling better.

  8. Hi Jenny.
Glad to be your surrogate visitor:)

  9. man, that pork does look tasty.
