When Life Gives You Lemons
You should all know me by now- cleaning isn't my forte but as I was about to throw some used lemons away I seised the moment and put them in a bowl with some water and heated everything for about 5 minutes until there was a lot of steam within the microwave - I left it for a few minutes then wiped - to my credit the microwave wasn't that crusted up but it looks like new again and involved very little effort.
Most natural cleaning solutions involve a lot of elbow grease which rules it out for me but on this occasion I was very impressed just how easy it was to create such excellent results.

I have a question. What does one do when life gives you bananas?
ReplyDeleteHa ha with my resistant gorilla we rarely have spare bananas but I've heard they can be used to polish patent leather.....;-)
Deleteit's remembering to use the things you have to hand which i am not very good at. bet the microwave smells lovely too.
ReplyDeleteanniex
me too Annie but on this occasion it worked out very well.
DeleteGood Idea!
ReplyDeleteXxx
I was surprised at just how well it worked.
DeleteA timely post with Pancake Day coming up!
ReplyDeleteExactly....
DeleteMakes the kitchen smell nice too doesn't it. Have your tried using them to clean your teacups? I use lemons and a bit of bicarb to get rid of tea stains, easy.
ReplyDeleteI use sterilisation tablets - the kind used for baby bottles - I clean my husband's flask once a week and I've got one mug that seems to stain up....but I have used bicarb on spoons when they get that dull build up
DeleteIf only I'd read that earlier, I put two old lemons in the compost the other day. Next time I'll know better, thanks
ReplyDeleteApparently you can put citrus peel straight on the garden to deter cats....although I don't think it would deter my lot!
